Journey through Raw

Question?    About

6 year vegan, starting a raw vegan lifestyle.

Remember you are beautiful!

Loving your body from the inside out, and being confident with who you are through this journey is what will make you happy. You must first learn to love your self as it is now, in order to be happy where you end up, as hard as that may be. You have got to do it. Your body is amazing, it does so much for you, and you must treat it with respect and not deprive it of the things it needs.

Myth About Organic Food:
"If you don’t buy organic you will die from pesticide exposure!!!!!"
No, you will not. I’ve also heard that eating not organic food will make you gain weight. That is also not true. Many fruits and vegetables you don’t even need to buy organic, there’s only a few that you should try to get at farmer’s markets or buy organic when/if you can. Pesticides and other chemicals are harmful to human health, and also health of children especially during fetal development, it is very important to try and eliminate as much contaminated food as you can from your diet. That is why you wash them thoroughly if they are not grown locally, peeling is not recommended because most of the peels contain all the nutrients that are necessary. Food grown with pesticides has a lot of the nutrients destroyed in it, and by the time you get to eat it, it’s been sitting in the store for months. By that time you are not getting as many vitamins or nutrients as you would if you buy locally grown organic food, which means that you have to eat twice or even three times the amount you would normally eat in order to get the nutrients you were deprived of. In the end, it’s not even really about organic, it’s about locally grown food.

Organic/Natural Substitutes

Baking Soda-cleans, deodorises

Vinegar cuts grease, removes mildew, odor and stains

Cornstarch can clean glass/mirrors, carpets, furnitures, and windows.

Citrus Extracts can clean paint off brushes, oils and greases and stains.

Borax helps cleans and deodorises much like Baking Soda, it can also clean walls and floors, and is an excellent disinfectant.

In my experience with Baking Soda, I’ve figured out, it is a great deodorant(for your armpits) if you mix it with a small amount of water to make a paste like texture. It can also be used for toothpaste and whitens teeth naturally and safely.

Myth:

Green Tea can help speed up your metabolism, yes, but in order to do so you must drink 10 cups of it per day to see any metabolic side effects. After 10 cups it will increase resting metabolism by approximately 4% over a 24 hour period. So drinking one or two cups of green tea a day will not increase your metabolism.

Avocado’s are extremely high in protein. They can help prevent many various types of cancers, they assist in the health of the eyes, help lower cholesterol, bring about a healthy heart and are extremely high in glutathione, which is an antioxidant which helps to prevent cancer, aging, and heart disease. Avocado’s are not a bad fat. They are high in Vitamin E, which is an essential vitamin to fight all sorts of disease.
Remember: When eating a salad, you need a fat in the salad in order to digest all of the nutrients, otherwise you only receive 25-30% of the nutrients from the salad. Opt for a healthy fat, like an avocado(or walnuts) before you decide to reach for the salad dressing which has little to no nutrients.
